Experimental study of swage-locking pinned aluminium alloy shear connections

This paper presents an experimental investigation into the structural behaviour and strength of swage-locking pinned aluminium alloy double-shear connections. It reports failure modes (shear-out, bearing, block shear net section failures), ultimate resistances load-deformation histories. A total twenty-three tests with four different grades various geometric variables, including end distances, edge distances pin spacings, were carried out. The results utilized to assess accuracy current American, Australian/New Zealand European design provisions, as well recent proposals by Teh co-workers, extended code equations are shown provide overly conservative predictions for tested specimens. co-workers significantly more accurate than codes, though test indicate that there is still scope efficient
